You may see us around the coast at local Makers Markets, Farmer's Market, or at Paul Bunyan Days. Our kitchen, where we bake our bread weekly, overlooks the South Harbor in Fort Bragg, California, which gives our sourdough its unique local flavor. We love taking simple, fresh, local ingredients and baking them with love to share with our community. And why not have some fun while we do it?
Breaking bread is about community. My name is Chaundel, a longtime resident of Fort Bragg and founder of South Harbor Sourdough. I am a wife and full-time mama to two sweet kiddos, who values a good book, a hot cup of something, and baked goods fresh out of the oven. I started baking bread with my dear friend several years ago. She created so much community and loved getting her hands in the dough, teaching the art of making bread. Watching my best friend build relationships and community around bread inspired me to continue the same thing, which is so needed in a post-Covid world. She shared her passion with me and in a natural overflow I began sharing it with my community! My passion has now turned into a business, helping support my family. I am now baking bread to share with the community and hosting local classes to teach others the art of breadmaking. If you live in the Fort Bragg area or are visiting the Mendocino coast, we would love for you to join us for a sourdough workshop. Sign up for our email list and we will let you know our next workshop date as well as what is coming hot out of the oven.
And mine is the BEST! When I started my little cottage business, baking for friends and family, I was soon up to my elbows with bread orders. That's when my dear friend Heidi stepped in to help me keep up. Heidi adds her artistic flair to everything we do. She is my right hand, whether it is kneading dough, jumping on social media, creating logos, or helping wrangle toddlers. South Harbor Sourdough has been a labor of love for these two friends to connect with the Mendocino Coast community, one loaf of quality, homemade artisan bread at a time.
